Questions and Answers Part 2

Below is Part Two of last week’s blog post: “Important questions clients ask us – and our answers to them”. As professional painters in Northern Virginia, we understand that you might want to ask us a few things before you hire us. Communicating with our clients is a big part of our business, and we’re always happy to provide answers and information.

With that in mind, here is the last of our two-part series on important questions clients often ask. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to us. We are always happy to speak with you!

Do you have a warranty and how long is it?

Our warranty is six years, which is much longer than the typical contractor warranty of one or two years. We are happy to share it with you if you’d like to read it, but we can tell you that it’s a comprehensive six-year warranty which includes labor and material. You can also read our terms and conditions.

Here’s what the first part of the warranty says:

Home Works Painting offers a 6-year warranty for all labor and materials due to paint failure or defective workmanship for any area that we paint. If paint failure appears, we will supply the labor and materials to correct the condition without cost. This warranty includes repair of peeling, blistering or chipping paint resulting from defective workmanship.

The warranty will only be effective if:

  • Home Works Painting is paid in full
  • The customer retains the original contract
  • The customer schedules bi-yearly inspections of the paint job

Are you members of any professional trade organizations:

As a reputable and well-established business, we are committed to our clients and to doing quality work. One way we accomplish that is through membership in certain industry organizations and regular attendance at industry conferences and training.  You can see some of them listed on our website.

Do you have references you share with clients?

Of course! A business that won’t share references is one you should stay away from. We can share references of past clients, including recent ones. Our reputation as a reliable and reputable business is important to us and providing references is an integral part of our reputation. We encourage you to reach out to them.

Please contact us if you have any remaining questions. Communication is important to us. If you are ready to schedule a free estimate for your Homeworks project, please call our offices to schedule an appointment: (703) 629–6543 or fill in this online estimate request.

FAQ

What brand of paint does Home Works Painting typically use?

Home Works Painting most often uses well-known brands such as Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams for their projects. These brands are chosen for their quality and durability.

Can I purchase the paint myself for my home painting project?

You are welcome to buy the paint yourself, but it is generally not recommended. Doing so may void the warranty on the work, could be more expensive, and adds another task to your list.

What type of paint finish should I choose for my walls?

The choice of finish depends on your needs and preferences. Flat paints help conceal imperfections and are good for irregular walls. Eggshell or satin finishes add a bit of luster and warmth. Semi-gloss is more stain-resistant and easier to clean, while gloss and high-gloss finishes are the most durable but can highlight wall imperfections.

How is the paint applied to walls and surfaces?

Most jobs are completed using brush and roller techniques to ensure an even and high-quality finish. Spraying is used only in specific situations, such as empty homes or when applying a single color throughout the interior.

What material is used when replacing rotting wood during painting projects?

Whenever possible, composite materials are used to replace rotting wood. Composite boards look and feel like real wood, take paint well, and are resistant to future rot, making them a long-lasting solution.
