Project Profile: Beautifying a Space with Trim Molding

We recently enhanced the aesthetic appeal of this home in Aldie, Virginia, by strategically installing trim molding in the large family room. This simple yet effective design element instantly added character and charm, creating a polished and finished look. The beauty of trim molding lies in its versatility. Whether you’re after a traditional or contemporary design, it can be customized to suit your style preferences and the size of the space.

Here’s what we did in this project:

Project Summary: We installed 7-inch crown molding and 3-inch panel molding on the walls in this family room. We painted the new moldings the same color as the walls, creating an elegant design.

Interior Painting: We painted the walls, ceiling, baseboards, window frames, doors, and door frames with two coats of paint.

Wall Paint:  Sherwin Williams, Ancient Marble SW 6162

Ceiling Paint: Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee OC-45

Carpentry: We installed picture box and crown moldings. This included 15 total millwork picture boxes and crown molding throughout the room, including the upstairs hallway.

Preparation: We always follow industry standards before starting to paint. We ensure the walls are clean, dry, and dull for the best paint and product adhesion. (Poor adhesion reduces the quality of the primer or paint.) We also patch, fill, caulk, sand, repair, and remove all loose paint as needed.

In conclusion, adding trim molding to your walls is an easy yet high-impact way to elevate the aesthetic appeal of any room with stunning results that will leave a lasting impression.
