Painters arrive tomorrow. How do we prepare?

Painters arrive tomorrow. How do we prepare?

So, you’ve read our estimate, signed the contract, picked out your paint colors, and we’re arriving tomorrow to begin the project. How should you prepare for our arrival?
The first thing you should do is not panic. Here is what else you should or shouldn’t do before the painters arrive:
      1. Remove all wall hangings in the room/rooms we will be painting. Store them somewhere safe like in a room where we won’t be working.
      2. Make arrangements for your pets for the duration of the project. It’s safer for both pets and painters if they’re not around while we’re working.
      3. Remove all knick-knacks in the room so that when we move furniture and begin preparing the walls, nothing risks breaking.
      4. You do not need to cover any furniture or floors. We will do that for you, which means you don’t have to buy any drop cloths. We bring all the materials needed.
      5. You do not need to remove any window coverings. We can do that for you.
      6. You do not need to purchase any paints. It’s better if we buy all the paint.
Before we begin any project, we will do all of the needed preparations. This typically includes:
      • All furnishing and floors will be covered and protected.
      • We will remove all switch and electrical plates.
      • All stress cracks and nail pops will be repaired with fiberglass joint tape, blocked, skimmed, and sanded.
      • Glossy surfaces and trim will be sanded and cleaned, (as needed), to assure proper paint adhesion.
      • Scrape and sand rough areas due to previous paint failure.
      • Caulk all wood trim work as necessary.
      • Apply an oil-based sealer to water stains and tannin wood stains.
      • Work areas will be cleaned up, and we will remove all debris.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office.
