Summer Sun and Exterior Painting

Summer Sun and Exterior Painting

Summer is here, and the Northern Virginia sun is at its full-on brightest. It’s not just a great time to be outside enjoying everything this area has to offer; it’s also a good time to address home improvement projects such as exterior painting. That summer sun is wonderful, but it also reflects all the imperfections of your home’s lovely exterior. When is the last time you painted your house?
Painting is like a Two-Step Dance:
Professional exterior painting, more than any other type of painting, is a bit like a two-step dance. The first step is to evaluate your home’s exterior. The first step is one that you can usually do yourself which is to carefully evaluate your home’s exterior. You should do this at least once or twice a year. You’re looking for signs that the integrity of the paint job as been compromised, such as flaking paint, wood rot, faded or worn-out paint, missing caulking, etc.
Step two is the painting process, and exterior painting is something best left to professionals. Typically, exterior painting is done every seven to ten years assuming the last paint job was done well by professionals. But, there are other variables which can affect how frequently you paint, including weather, landscaping, and geography. Any sign of peeling paint, wood rot, or other issues you discover when you’re assessing your house, could mean painting it’s time to paint. (By the way, we’re considered one of the best in Northern Virginia.)
When to Call the Pros:
Think ahead when it comes to scheduling professional painters! Once you’ve established that your home’s exterior needs repainting, you should call Home Works as soon as possible to get onto our schedule. We’re usually booked well in advance, so it’s essential to call so we can discuss our availability and your needs. Summers and early fall, while the weather is still good, can be a busy time for exterior maintenance work so the earlier you call, the better. We work year-round, weather permitting, and we can provide a free estimate after doing an onsite consultation.
If you’d like to learn a bit more about us, check out our two blog posts on typical questions our Northern Virginia clients will ask us. We look forward to hearing from you! If you’d like to discuss your project, please contact us.
